Margaret Callaway dies at 67

Margaret M. “Peggy” Callaway, of Chesterton, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at V.N.A. Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was 67.

She was born Nov. 12, 1937 in Porter, the daughter of Joseph Sr. and Anastaisia (Tabor) Ray, both of whom preceded her in death.

On. Oct. 25, 1958 at St. Patrick Church, she married Thomas W. Callaway Sr., who preceded her in death Jan. 10, 1986.

She is survived by five sons, Thomas (Jill) Callaway Jr., Timothy (Crystal) Callaway and Tracey (Rachael) Callaway, all of Chesterton, Terence (Lori) Callaway of Chicago and Theodore Callaway of Porter; a daughter, Tiffany (Kevin) Hawkins of Valparaiso; a brother, Francis (JoAnn) Ray of Milton Freewater, Ore.; two sisters, Mary (Frank) Kamaski of Porter and Ann (Donald) Novak of Chesterton; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her fiancee, William Johnston; three brothers, Joseph Ray Jr., Steven Ray and Alois Ray; a sister, Sylvia Yagelski and a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Callaway.

She was a lifelong resident and was a home maker and beautician. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family and friends, playing Bingo and her Bingo buddies.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. Gerald Schweitzer and Fr. James Meade con-celebrating, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Chesterton.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, with Rosary at 6 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Memorials may be made to V.N.A. Hospice or the Porter County Cancer Society.
