Leslie 'LD' Campbell dies at 54

Leslie L.D. Campbell, of Chesterton, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 at Porter Portage Hospital Campus, Portage. He was 54.

He was born April 21, 1950 in Thayer, Mo., the son of Charles Elmo and Coquetta (Wooldridge) Britton, both of whom preceded him in death.

On Jan. 8, 1983 in Chesterton, he married Patricia J. Amicangelo, who survives in Chesterton.

He is also survived by a son, Anthony Campbell of Chesterton.

He was also preceded in death by his mother and father in law, Paul and Arlene Amicangelo.

Campbell was a local resident for 46 years and was employed as a boiler operator in the power station at International Steel Group (I.S.G.) He was a member of the Chesterton Moose Lodge #1623 and United Steel Workers of America.

A Celebration of Life, Rev. Ronald Larson officiating, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Cremation will precede services at Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First State Bank of Porter for the education fund for L.D.’s son, Anthony Campbell.
