Lenora Rhoda dies at 82

Former community leader, Lenora Rhoda, of Liberty Twp. died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was 82.

She was born June 3, 1922 in Franklin Twp., Marion County, Ind., the daughter of Benjamin and Carrie (Stuart) Lantz, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Nov. 20, 1948 in Liberty Twp., she married Roy E. Rhoda, who preceded her in death Aug. 14, 2002.

She is survived by a son, Robert (Vicki) Rhoda of Chesterton; a sister-in-law, Florence Lantz, Beech Grove, Ind.; and grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Rhoda of Chesterton.

She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Thomas H. Rhoda and a brother, Omer Lantz.

She was employed at Hall Aircraft, Porter County Airport. She was a member of Liberty Bible Church and the Missionary Care Ministries. She was a long time member of the Porter County Farm Bureau, having served as officer both at the Liberty Twp. and County Levels. She was active in Rural Youth Leadership for many years with her husband. She was also involved with the Keen-Agers Group at Liberty Bible and a supporter of Boy Scouting and 4-H.

A funeral service, Pastor Ken Long officiating, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.
