Genevieve Nespo dies at 85

Genevieve “Jean” Nespo of Michigan City died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers. She was 85.

Nespo was born July 19, 1919, the daughter of Albert and Julia (Gozek) Saturnus, who preceded her in death.

On Jan. 18, 1941, in Michigan City, she married Lawrence E. Nespo, who on Jan. 7, 1992, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (husband Donald) Freund of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sons, Edward (wife Debra) Nespo of Westville, James (wife Diane) Nespo of Uniontown, Ohio, and Robert Nespo of Michigan City; three sisters, Irene Betts of Findley, Ohio, Joan Pearson of Michigan City, and Violet Cox of South Bend; a brother, John Magon of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Adams and Ella Campbell; and a brother, Stanley Saturnus.

She was a homemaker.

Funeral services, the Rev. Dennis Blaney officiating, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St. in Michigan City. She will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ott/Haverstock and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Ott/Haverstock.

Memorials may be made to the family.
