Father of Mike Bachuchin dies at 84

The father of Mike Bachuchin of Chesterton, Mike Bachuchin of Monessen, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 in Mon Valley Hospital Inc. He was 84.

He was born Aug. 19, 1920 in Monessen, a son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Puhy) Bachovchen.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (Szabo) Bachuchin; two sons, Michael K. (Maria) Bachuchin of Chesterton and Mitchell J. (Patricia) Bachuchin of Monessen; three grandchildren, Mitchell Jr. and Jillian Myralee Bachuchin, both of Monessen and Shara Bachuchin of Pittsburgh and over 80 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Myra Bachuchin Spadafore; six brothers, Michael, Joe, Nick (in 1914), John “Yunk,” Andy “Heavy” and Nick Bachuchin (in 1936) and three sisters, Mary Kerestes, Pauline “Pinky” Lees and Elizabeth Lee Wiaynuski.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the steam plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co., Monessen Plant. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Ravens Athletic Club, both in Monessen. He was a former manager and coach for the Monessen Bronco League and a die hard Greyhounds and Pitt Panther fan. He was a 1939 graduate of Monessen High School.

Visitation was Wednesday at Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc., Grand Blvd. and Marion Ave., Monessen.

Funeral services, Pastor Thomas Senge officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
