Dorothy Lorraine Johnson dies at 82

The mother of an area resident, Dorothy Lorraine Johnson, of Wilmette, Ill., formerly of Flossmoor, Ill., died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at Canterbury Place Nursing Home, Valparaiso. She was 82.

She was born Nov. 20, 1922 in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Cecil and Marie Eskridge, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Sept. 6, 1947 in Chicago, she married Robert A. Johnson, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Scott (DeAnne) Johnson of Wilmette; a daughter, Nancy (Jim) Bell of Valparaiso; five grandchildren, Lisa Bell, Christine (Christopher) Heim, Amelia, Kate and Emily Johnson.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, C. William Eskridge.

She was a 7th and 8th grade math teacher at Lincoln Middle School, Dolton, Ill. She had taught in Dolton for 20 years. She was a graduate of Chicago State Teachers College. She was a member of Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church, Flossmoor.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Rev. James Meade officiating, will be at noon Wednesday, Nov. 10 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Chapel, 6001 W. 111th St. Alsip, Ill.

Memorials may be given to Canterbury Place Nursing Home, Valparaiso.

Arrangements are under the direction of White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.
