Charles Ristau dies at 60 in Valparaiso

Charles R. Ristau, of Valparaiso, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, in Valparaiso. He was 60 years old.

Born March 14, 1944, in Evansville, Ind., he was the son of Charles H. and Annabelle Ristau. His mother survives in Blasedell, NY.

On March 18, 1973, he married Sandra Rohwer in Springville, New York.

He is also survived by sons Charles G. Ristau and Dustin Ristau, both of Valparaiso and Andrew Ristau of Portage, Ind. and a daughter, Shyann Ristau, of Portage.

Other survivors include sisters Diane (David) Nelson, of Rochester, NY and Barbara Canterberry, of Lackawanna, NY and grandchildren Andrew, Zackary and Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, John Ristau.

A retired coke oven operator, he worked for Bethlehem Steel (now ISG) for 31 years.

He was a member of the Michigan City Fishing Club and of the Living Word Sanctuary in South Haven.

Services are set for Saturday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. at the Living Word Sanctuary, 737 N. S.R. 149, South Haven, Ind., with Pastor Doris Dunlap officiating.

There will be no visitation. Cremation will be conducted at Heritage Crematory, Portage, Ind.

Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, is handling arrangements.
