Bernice M. Olson dies at 95

Bernice M. Olson, of Chesterton, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004 at her home. She was 95.

She was born June 17, 1909 in Chicago, the daughter of Albert and Agusta (Stumpf) Schultz, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Lute and husband of 64 years, Edgar Olson.

She is survived by two daughters, Rosemary (Don) Houghtaling of Chesterton and Alice M. Olson of Hobart; seven grandchildren, Susan Malak of Wis., Pamela (Curtis) Jones of Lake Station, Anne Ray (Willie) Bauer of Hobart and Connie (Randy) Nord of Crown Point; step grandchildren, Rick and Sharon Houghtaling, Calif., Allen Houghtaling, of Ill. and Curtis Houghtaling of Ill.; great grandchildren, Tracy, Kim, Jeff, Charles, Eric, Michael, Nicole, Lindsay Ross and Trey; great-great grandchildren, Kacey, Dalton, Taylor and Pete and one sister, Mary Sitar of Ky.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Herbert and Ted Schultz and one sister, Gladys Willy.

She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, crafts and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed sewing draperies and had a small business making draperies and clothing.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Cremation will be at Calvary Crematory, Portage.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be given to St. Anthony Hospice, Michigan City.

Arrangements are under the direction of White-Love Funeral Home, Chesterton.
