Andrew J Yankovich dies at 72

The father of a Liberty Twp. resident, Andrew J. Yankovich, of Calumet City, Ill., died at home Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004. He was 72.

He was born April 21, 1932 in Kenosha, Wis., the son of Andrew and Etella (Janota) Yankovich, who proceeded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Diane; four children, Mark Yankovich of Negaunee, Mich., Linda (Phillip) Ford of Liberty Twp., Alan (Sandra) Yankovich of Schererville, Deanna (John) Pratscher of Thornton, Ill.; five grandchildren, Ashley Ford of Valparaiso, Marissa, Nicholas and Matthew Pratscher of Thornton and Andrew Yankovich of Schererville; two sisters Ethel Yankovich and Vera (Louis) Malevitis of Chicago; a brother, Daniel (Jean) Yankovich of Melbourne, Fla. and a niece, Danielle (Johathan) Klotzbach of Boston.

He was a graduate of Chicago Vocational High School class of 1950. He served in the U.S. Army 142nd Field Artillery Unit, Frankfort, Germany. He retired from Amoco Oil in Whiting after 43 years of service. He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church of Hammond for 26 years.

Funeral services, Pastor Poole officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 at Christ Lutheran Church, 7051 Indianapolis Blvd., Hammond. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond.
