Sallie M. Brown dies at 56

Sallie M. Brown, of Chesterton, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003 at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso after a long battle with leukemia. She was 56.

She was born February 21, 1947, the daughter of Joseph C. Williams who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 2003, and Monita (Pugh) Williams, who survives in Chesterton.

On Sept. 16, 1998 in Gatlinberg, Tenn, she married Dennis H. Brown, who preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2000.

She is survived by three sons, Joseph (Rosanne) Mooney of Wilmington, Del., Ken Mooney of Michigan City and Kevin (Michela) Mooney of Longmont, Colo.; a daughter, Deanna Hardwick (Mark) of Brownsburg, Ind.; three brothers, Billy (Anna) Scott of Valparaiso, Thomas (Thelma) Scott and Jerry (Loretta) Scott of Chesterton; three sisters, Hazel (Odell) Russell of Hickman, Ky., Marge (Jerry) Troke and Katie (Ed) Gardner of Valparaiso and 10 grandchildren, Nicholas, Isabella, Ashley, Kyle, Katelyn, Joshua, Jesse and Bailey Mooney and Christopher and Alex Hardwick.

She was a life-long resident and was employed as a registered nurse with a nursing service.

A funeral service, Pastor Marj Kooy officiating, is scheduled at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services at Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m. Saturday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
