Rose Lindquist Garrison dies at 97

Rose Genevieve Lindquist Garrison, of Portage, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was 97.

She was born Aug. 12, 1906 in Crisman, Ind. the daughter of Frank and Hilda (Rossell) Lindquist, who preceded her in death.

On June 5, 1932 in Glen Park, she married Howard Garrison, who preceded her in death on April 20, 2002.

She is survived by a son, John (Mary) Garrison of Henderson, Nev., a daughter, Linda (Arlen) Ayers of Lynchburg, Tenn.; a brother-in-law, Ivan Hawkinson, two sisters-in-law, Lois Garrison and Ruth Gardner Lindquist; two grandchildren, Beth (Brian) Behannon of Germany and Rob (Tasha) Garrison of La.; a great grandchild, Haley Rose Behannon of Germany and 5 nephews, Roger and Kent Lindquist, Jeff Brooks and Brent and Bruce Garrison.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Arthur Lindquist; two sisters, Esther Brook and Edith Wilson and a nephew Richard Wilson.

She retired June 1, 1969 as a school teacher with the Portage Schools. She attended Crisman High School.

A memorial service for Howard and Rose, Rev. Rodney Flohr officiating, will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6322 Portage Ave., Portage.

A graveside service will be held for Rose at 3:30 p.m. at McCool Cemetery in Portage.

No visitation is scheduled.
