Mary E. Bochart dies at 79

Mary E. Bochart, of Chesterton, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at Whispering Pines, Valparaiso. She was 79.

She was born March 24, 1924 in Gary, the daughter of Josef and Mary (Krinninger) Moser, who preceded her in death.

On Oct. 9, 1943 at Holy Angels Church in Gary, she married Richard E. Bochart, who preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1972.

She is survived by a son, Richard (Lynn) Bochart of Lowell; a daughter, Marion Bochart of Chesterton; a brother, Ernest (Phyllis) Moser of Lowell; 3 sisters, Edith (John) Elsmere of Portage, Emma Schmitt of Chesterton and Josephine Gropp of Valparaiso; two grandchildren, Mike (Jessica) Bochart of Delphi and Tim (Ruth) Bochart of Arlington, Texas; 2 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Eric and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Moser.

She was a life long area resident and was employed as a stocker at Smedman’s Grocery Store and Chesterton Kmart. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Patrick’s Seniors Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Rev. Lawrence Heeg officiating, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 19. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. with a Wake service at 6 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County.
