Margaret J. Stevens of Valparaiso died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 at her residence. She was 71.

Born on February 23, 1932 in Liberty Township, she was the daughter of Lester and Mildred (Barber) Hineline, who preceded her in death.

On Nov. 24, 1956 in Valparaiso, she married Ronald N. Stevens, who survives.

Also surviving are daughters Cheryl Miller (husband Frederick) of Kouts and Leslie Richart (Bruce) of Porter; brother James Hineline (wife Pat) of Liberty Township; sisters Judith, Elizabeth and Marion; eight grandchildren, JJ and Layla Miller, Rebecca, Joshua, Ryan and Jerimiah Richart, and Annette and Travis Stevens; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Tyler.

She graduated from Liberty Township High School and worked 35 years for the Mental Health Association of Porter County, retiring as executive director in July, 1999.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso. Cremation will take place at Angelcrest Crematory following services. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Mental Health Association of Porter County.
