Margaret F. House dies at 86

Margaret F. House, of Chesterton died September 26, 2003. She was 86.

She was born July 11, 1917 in Steger, Ill., the daughter of Raymond and Ethel (Kester) Ebner.

On December 31, 1938 in Franklin Park, Ill., she married Virgil M. House, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by 4 children, Ramon (Carol) House of Westville, Arlene (Romano) Orlandi of Ill., Janet (Ed) Poortinga of Chesterton and David (Lana) House of Valparaiso; 8 grandchildren, Kenneth (Cara) House, Deborah Haddock, Dina (Fernando) Costa’s, Jean Ryan, Angela (Brad) Lajoie, Amy Orlandi, Aimee House and Jill House; 4 step-grandchildren, David (Kim) Daley, Kathleen Zale, Vince (Jen) Poortinga and Paula Poortinga; 9 great-grandchildren, Jason Haddock, Kevin Baum, Seaghan House, Rhiana House, Amanda Ryan, Eric Ryan, Craig Ryan, Fernando Costa’s, Dario Costa’s; a great-great-gandson, Sammy Haddock and a brother, Richard (Lucille) Ebner.

She was also preceded in death by a son Loren House and a brother Arthur Ebner.

She worked as a nursing assistant with Porter Memorial Hospital for 13 years and for Whispering Pines for 6 years. She was a member of New Life Wesleyan Church in Chesterton where she sang in the church choir. She also loved making crafts and reading.

Funeral services, Rev. Mike Cloud officiating, are scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at New Life Wesleyan Church in Chesterton.

Visitation is scheduled from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St. Valparaiso.
