Chesterton resident Lillian G. Busch died today, Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 at the V.N.A. Horton Hospice Center in Valparaiso. She was 77.

Born on Feb. 12, 1926 in Staton Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late John Brown McCartney and Lillian (Anderson) McCartney.

She is survived by sons Dennis B. Busch (wife Gail) of Saginaw, Mich., Brian R. Busch (Marilyn) of Chesterton, and Allan T. Busch (Susan) of Fresno, Calif.; brother George McCartney (Susan) of Stanton Island, N.Y.; grandchildren Lisa Trautner (husband Joel), Mike Piechotte, and Mark Piechotte (Shelly) all of Saginaw; Brian Busch Jr., Lauren Quillian (Heath), and Devon Busch, all of Chesterton; Allyson Smith (Scott) of New Jersey; and Melissa and Kriston Busch of California; and great-grandchildren Olivia and Amelia Trautner of Saginaw and Danielle and Scott Smith of New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

She was an area resident for 18 years coming from New Jersey, where she was a dental assistant. She was a volunteer at the Westchester Medical Center. During World War II, she sold many war bonds and worked at the U.S.O.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with the Rev. Michael Porter officiating. Entombment is planned at the Chesterton Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
