Lester I. Ellingson dies at 72

Lester I. Ellingson, of Sumava Resorts, Ind., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003 at Select Specialty Hospital, Hammond. He was 72.

He was born Jan. 12, 1931 in Chicago the son of Arnold and Dorothy (Hoke) Ellingson, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Grace and five daughters; JoAnn (Thomas) Bour of Chicago, Susan (Charles) Barriball, of Chesterton, Grayce (Larry) Schisel of Clearwater, Fla., Ellyn (Frank) Hlaner of Valparaiso and Janet (Ken) Honkisz of Lake Village; 15 grandchildren, Daniel and Edward Barriball of Chesterton, Katherine (Robert) Perham of Chesterton, and Patrick (Amy) Barriball of Valparaiso.

Lester was retired from the Chicago Police Department and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 and the American Legion.

A wake and memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 14 at Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E. Commercial, Lowell. The wake will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the service at Noon. A luncheon will follow the interment.
