Josephine 'Josie' Miller dies at 73

Former Chesterton businesswoman, Josephine “Josie” Spear-Miller, 73, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 at Life Care Center of Fort Wayne.

She was born in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She is survived by a daughter, T.J. Vosmeier and a son, Raymond Miller, both of Fort Wayne; 3 grandchildren, Wendy Charters, Athena Brokaw and Sean Vosmeier, all of Fort Wayne; 5 great-grandchildren, Samara Charters, Asia Burden, Devon Charters, Jackson Brokaw and Gabriel Vosmeier, all of Fort Wayne and 2 brothers, Victor “Butch” Spear of Churubusco and Donald Spear of Fort Wayne.

She was a member of the Indiana Cosmetology School Association and the Council of the “Sagamores of the Wabash,” which is the highest honor that can be bestowed by the State of Indiana. She was the personal liaison for the Indiana Governor and Director of the State Board of Cosmetology Examiners. She was owner of Indiana State Beauty College “Ravenscroft Beauty College” for 15 years.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Daybreak Children’s Shelter.
