Jonathan D. Fillippo dies at 22

Chesterton High School graduate Jonathan D. Fillippo died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003. A resident of Valparaiso, he was 22.

Fillippo was born Feb. 2, 1981, in Chicago, the son of Dennis and Linda (Puszczewicz) Fillippo, who survive in Valparaiso.

He is also survived by a brother, Christian Fillippo of Bloomington; a maternal grandmother, Eleanor Puszczewicz of Valparaiso; a paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Fillippo of Toronto, Canada; aunts and uncles, Rosemary Mariotti of Orland Park, Ill., Dale Fillippo of Chicago, Beverly Buchler of Boulder, Colo., Sherri Fillippo of Hollywood, Calif., Kathy (husband George) Bookless, David Puszczewicz and (partner) Al Bonvini, all of Galena, Ill., and Michael (wife Dawn) Puszczewicz; and by several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William P. Fillippo and Leonard A. Puszczewicz; and an uncle, Emil Fillippo.

Fillippo attended Liberty Middle and Elementary schools and graduated from CHS in 1999. He was a senior at Indiana University in Bloomington and was scheduled to graduate with a B.A. in occupational safety on Dec. 20, 2003. He was an active member of the VanBuren Fire Department in Bloomington.

Funeral services, the Rev. Kevin McCarthy officiating, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell St. in Valparaiso. He will be interred at Angelcrest Cemetery in Valparaiso.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Dykes.

Memorials may be made to the VanBuren Fire Department in Bloomington.
