Henry P. Hank Braunlich, Jr. dies at 48

Henry P. “Hank” Braunlich Jr., of Chesterton, died Wednesday Nov. 5, 2003 at his home. He was 48.

He was born April 24, 1955 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Henry P. Braunlich Sr. (Stepmother Judy) of Bettendorf, Iowa and Shirley Ann Smith Braunlich who preceded him in death.

On June 14, 1986 in Davenport, Iowa, he married Amy Hockridge, who survives in Chesterton.

He is also survived by two sons, Phillip and Pierce Braunlich of Chesterton; 2 sisters, Susie (Kirk) Rose of Hinsdale, Ill., Heidi (Greg) Hilbert of Davenport, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Todd Hockridge of Lincoln, Neb.; nieces and nephews, Chris, Elise and Cassie Rose, Hamanda, Chris and Sarah Hilbert; an uncle, Bud Braunlich of Davenport, Iowa; an aunt, Jean Greer of Davenport, Iowa and mother and father in law, Robert and Annalee Hockridge of Bettendorf, Iowa.

He was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Hugo and Martha Braunlich and maternal grandparents, Harriet and Walter Smith..

He was a local resident for three years. He was employed as Vice President of Finance at UCC Total Home, Merrillville, Ind. He was 5th generation Braunlich of Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from Bettendorf H.S., Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. with a B.S. in Mathematics. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa, Iowa City with an M.B.A. He received his CPA from Wayne State University, Mich.

Hank was a member of Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Davenport Country Club, Davenport, Iowa; the Davenport Club, The Outing Club and Davenport Rotary Club. His interests included spending time with family, golfing and hunting.

A private graveside service will be conduced at a later date. Cremation was at Heritage Crematory, Portage. Memorials may be made to the Phillip and Pierce Braunlich Education Fund c/o John Anderson, Senior Vice President of th Quad City Bank, 5513 Utica Ridge Rd., Iowa 52807. Arrangements were handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
