Helen E. Carr, 90, of Valparaiso, died Sept. 14, 2003 at her home.

She was born July 6, 1913, in Chariton, Iowa the daughter of Joseph Marcus and Margaret (Doolin) Marcus, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Jean (Donald) Hayes of Valparaiso and Sandra Wallace of Englewood, Colo.; 5 grandchildren, Vicky L. Hayes (Garry) Gadd and Donald A. (Lori) Hayes both of Valparaiso, Garry J. Hayes of New York City, NY, Wendy (John) Gossett of Highlands Ranch, Colo. and Laurie (Timothy) Ames of Parker, Colo.; 6 great-grandchildren, Lynae Granzow, Brandon Granzow, Jason Hayes, Drew Ames, Audrey Gossett and Luke Ames; a sister Mary L. Dibble of Valparaiso; a brother, Joseph Jr. (Von) Marcus of Lafayette, Ind.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, John T. Carr; a brother and sister, Allan R. Marcus and Louise M. Maves and 2 great-grandchildren, Ryan Granzow and Jameson Gossett.

She was a 30-year resident of Valparaiso, formerly of Gary, and retired from the Anderson Company.

A memorial service, Pastor Ken Long officiating, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 19, at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. Lunch will follow. Interment will be private.

Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Moeller Funeral Home.
