Evelyn McCorkel, of Palmetto, Fla., died September 1, 2003 in Palmetto, Fla. She was 87.

She was born August 15, 1916 in Harvey, Ill., the daughter of August and Hulda (Hellman) Veden, who preceded her in death.

On February 1, 1936 in Valparaiso, she married Ross McCorkel, who survives.

She is also survived by two daughters, Carol Wiesemann and Pat (Ben) Abdallah of Fla.; 5 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters and brothers.

She was a member of Christian Science Church.

Private family services will be Friday in Palmetto. The family requests no flowers.
