Donald Herald dies at 74

Chesterton resident Donald L. Herald, 74, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Porter Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 15, 1929, the son of James R. and Elma (Bake) Herald, who preceded him in death.

On June 2, 1947, in Steubenville, Ohio, he married June S. Simpson, who survives him in Chesterton.

He is also survived by two daughters, Sharon (husband Bruce) Morgan of Portage and Sandy (husband Eric) Bushong of Schererville; a son, Donald Kim (wife Debi) Herald of Highland; seven grandchildren, Tori and Tawney Morgan, Donald, Kelly, and Mathew Herald, and Britt and Brooke Bushong; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon Morgan and Courtney Herald.

He was formerly of Hammond and Lansing, Ill., was Gold Card member of Bricklayers Local 4 Indiana/Kentucky union and a 50-year Life Member of the South Pueblo, Colo., Masonic Lodge 31 F&AM.

There will be no funeral service but the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St. in Chesterton. Cremation will follow at Calvary Crematory in Portage.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
