Chester John Nowak dies at 72

Chester J. Nowak, of Dune Acres, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003 at the Willows Nursing Home in Valparaiso after a long illness. He was 82.

He was born Feb. 12, 1921 in Gary.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene Augusta; 4 children, Dr. John (Barbara) Nowak of Urbana, Ill., Dr. Michael Inaba of Berkely, Calif., Janna (Dr. David) Caldarelli of Evanston, Ill., and Paul (Beth) Nowak of South Bend; grandchildren, Deborah and Becca, Megan and Ian, Leslie and Adam, Christopher, Katie and Evan; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen (William) Georges; a sister-in-law, Patricia Pavel and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mac.

He graduated from Emerson High School and was associated with the Sheet Metal Workers International Association for over 50 years.

The family invites their friends to a celebration of Chester’s well-lived life at Noon Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Waterbird, in Indian Oak Inn, SR 49 and Indian Boundary Rd.

As Chester truly believed the world could be a better place if people would care for one another, he asked anyone who wants to honor his memory do an unsolicited act of kindness to another human being. Any monetary gifts should be give to the donor’s charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of White-Love Funeral Home, Chesterton.
