Valparaiso resident Charles T. “Chuck” Hardt died suddenly on Sunday, Sept.
21, 2003. He was 59.
Born Dec. 28, 1943 in Medford, Wisc., he was the son of Reinhold and Elsie
(Winquist) Hardt, who survive in Lake Station.
Also surviving are his wife of 28 years, Theresa “Terri”; children Tim Hardt
(wife Rena) of Chesterton, Dawn Uribe (husband John) of Minneapolis, Minn.,
Michele Norlington (Brian) of Valparaiso, David Hardt of Lafayette and
Nathan Hardt of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Amanda, Payton, Alex, Noah,
Sayer and Jacob; brothers Dave of Dresden, Ohio and Dan of Indianapolis; and
sister Lois Currier of Mooresville, N.C.
He was a truck driver for the last 23 years, most recently with S&H
Transportation at the Aldi warehouse in Valparaiso. He previously was a
music teacher at River Forest in New Chicago, Grissom in Portage and in
Missouri. He was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in
Hobart, where he directed the choir, led congregational and children’s
singing, and was a Sunday school teacher and trumpet player.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Church of the
Nazarene, 421 5th St., Hobart, with the Rev. Gerald Walworth officiating.
Entombment will be at Graceland Mausoleum. Visitation will be Wednesday from
4 to 8 p.m. at the Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso and
on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be
made to the church.
