Carl G. Radiger dies at 79

Carl G. Radiger, of Chesterton, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 at Whispering Pines Nursing Home, Valparaiso. He was 79.

He was born Aug. 5, 1924 in Chesterton, the son of Henry and Emma (Plagemann) Radiger, who preceded him in death.

On March 5, 1944 in Porter, he married Lula K. Sheetz, who preceded him in death in Aug. 2001.

He is survived by a son, Jerry (Kay) Radiger of Michigan City; 2 daughters, Carlee (Ed) Thilman of Chesterton and Delysia (Bob) Hurst of Princeton, Ind.; a brother, John (Pat) Radiger of Chesterton; a sister-in-law, Jean Radiger of Chesterton; 4 grandchildren, Christine (Douglas) Barnack, Douglas (Joanne) Thilman, Brian (Kerri) Thilman and Scott Hurst and 6 great-grandchildren, Douglas, Kyle, Danielle and Rachael Barnack, Graceann Thilman and Emma Christine Thilman.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Hank Radiger.

He was a lifelong resident and was employed as Head Custodian for Duneland Schools for 28 years and Carman for E.J.&E. Railroad for 15 years. He was a member of V.F.W. Porter Post 2511 and 749th Operating Battalion Club.

A graveside service to inter ashes, Rev. Edward Mitchell officiating, is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Chesterton Cemetery. Cremation will be at Heritage Crematory, Portage, with interment of ashes at Chesterton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Whispering Pines Nursing Home, Valparaiso.

Arrangements were made by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
