Anthony Tony John Ballor dies at 60

Anthony “Tony” John Ballor, of Portage, 60, died Thursday, January 30, 2003 at his home.

He was born May 14, 1942 in Mt. Clemens, Mich., the son of Anthony Joseph and Helen (Rhody) Ballor, who preceded him in death.

On June 28, 1975 in Detroit, Mich., he married Debbie Garcia, who survives in Portage.

He is also survived by five sons, Paul Ballor of San Diego, Calif., Glenn Ballor and Anthony Ballor, Jr., both of Portage, Dennis Ballor of Mich. and Scott Ballor of Santa Maria, Calif.; a brother, Ronald (Marietta) Ballor of Lapeer, Mich.; two sisters, Rosemary (Daniel) Marchand of Ray Twp., Mich. and Lorene (Ron) Gauthier of Memphis, Mich. and 10 grandchildren.

He was President of First of Indiana Corp. for 17 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Parish. He was a former owner of Ballor Trucking in Emmett, Mich. and was a member of the Honda Gold Wing Assoc.

Funeral services, Rev. William O’Toole officiating, are scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage. Cremation will be at Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the family.
