The price of a one-way ticket from the South Shore commuter line’s Dune Park Station to Millennium Station will increase by 25 cents on Saturday, July 1, from $8.25 to $8.50.

The monthly fare will increase from $233.75 to $239.75.

The fare hike will apply to all July monthly, one-way, and multiple ride tickets.

Hegewisch fares are governed by Metra and will not change

The 2.5-percent fare hike is the second phase of a two-phase 5-percent hike, the first phase of which went into effect on July 1, 2016.

The hike is expected in its second year to raise an additional $1 million in revenues for the South Shore line, which will be used exclusively for capital projects and grant matches.

Also on July 1, certain weekday schedule changes will go into effect.

The changes affect eastbound trains departing Millennium Station after 5 p.m. as well as westbound Trains 222 and 22.
