South Shore expands Kids Ride Free program

Back To Front Page

The South Shore commuter railroad line has expanded its Kids Ride Free program, the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District said.

Under the newly-expanded program, up to three children under the age of 14 may ride the train for free with each parent or guardian. Available year-round, this service is valid during all weekend/holiday trains; as well as on all off-peak weekday trains arriving at Millennium Station after 9:30 a.m. and departing from Millennium Station before 3:30 p.m. and after 6:30 p.m.

In the coming year, the South Shore will be offering free rides for various groups. In early August, it offered free rides for educators at all arrival and departure stations, and in the near future, the train will be offering free transportation for daily commuters, military personnel, and more. Follow the South Shore on social media for these special announcements.

In addition, the South Shore offers reduced fares for seniors, military personnel, commuting students, infants, and passengers with disabilities on all trains year-round.
