Plan ahead: Track work to affect South Shore schedule October 5 to 11

The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District is announcing a number of temporary changes in the normal South Shore schedule.

Those changes will affect service between Saturday, Oct. 5, and Friday, Oct. 11.

The changes “are necessary in order to install a new crossover and switches and to realign overhead wire near the Illinois/Indiana state line,” NICTD said. “NICTD regrets any inconvenience and thanks you for your cooperation.”

Saturday, Oct. 5

WB Train 510 and EB Train 613 passengers will be bussed between Hegewisch and Hammond.

Sunday, Oct. 6

WB Train 600 and EB Train 601 passengers will be bussed between Hegewisch and Hammond.

Monday, Oct. 7,

through Friday, Oct. 11

* EB Train 203 passengers will be bussed from Millennium Station to Hegewisch and stations east. Van Buren Street passengers must board the bus at Millennium Station. The bus will not stop at Van Buren Street.

* EB Train 205 will be canceled.

* EB Train 209 will depart Chicago stations on time but may be delayed 10 to 15 minutes at Hegewisch and stations east.

* EB Train 117 will depart Millennium Station at 6:15 p.m.

* EB Train 19 will depart Millennium Station at 7:35 p.m.

* WB Train 218 passengers will be bussed from Gary Metro Center and stations west directly to Millennium Station. The bus will not stop at 57th Street, Museum Campus, or Van Buren Street.

* WB Train 20 passengers will be bussed from Gary Metro Center and stations west directly to Millennium Station. The bus will not stop at 57th Street, Museum Campus, or Van Buren Street.
