Northwest Indiana Forum elects 14 board members

At its annual meeting on Jan. 23, the Northwest Indiana Forum elected 14 members to serve on its Managing Board of Directors.

New board members include Sean Dardeau, Porter Health Care Systems; Gil Rynberk, Wintrust Commercial Bank; Anne Van Keppel, Berglund Construction; and Matt Vessely, 1st Source Bank.

Ten other members were re-elected to three-year terms: Bill Baker, of Urschel Laboratories Inc.; Dan Botich, Short Elliott Henderson (SEH); Anthony Contrucci, Centier Bank; Joe Coar, Tonn & Blank Construction; Greg Dougherty, South Shore Freight; Jim Jorgensen, Hoeppner, Wagner, Evans; Stewart McMillan, Task Force Tips; Pete Novak, Greater Northwest Indiana Association of Realtors; Rex Richards, Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce/VEDC; and Linda Woloshansky, Center of Workforce Innovations.

2019 Forum highlights:

--Participated with the Indiana Economic Development Corpora-tion (IEDC) and local economic development organizations, elected officials, and the state in a variety projects, helping to attract over $218 million in new investment and create new 1,366 jobs with an average wage of $22.28 per hour to Northwest Indiana. The Northwest Indiana Forum is currently working on 42 leads for attraction or business expansion/retention in Northwest Indiana.

-- Celebrated year one of the Ignite the Region--Northwest Indiana’s Strategy for Economic Transfor-mation. Of the plan’s 112 initiatives, 70 percent are currently in implementation with 22 percent completed.

-- Made over 24 trips, reaching over 400 site selectors, brokers, developers, and businesses to promote Northwest Indiana’s advantage in location, logistics, business climate, value and workforce.

-- Hosted 19 events for Forum members, regional business leaders, and elected officials.

-- Represented Northwest Indiana on numerous regional, state, national, and international boards and commissions.

This year the Forum plans to build on the marketing campaign “The Middle of Everywhere,” with new marketing folders and targeted marketing materials.
