NIRPC subcommittee to review input for public participation plan

Back To Front Page

The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) has drafted a revised Public Participation Plan, updating the Public Participation Plan that was adopted in 2007.

A second public meeting to review input received will take place on Wednesday, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at NIRPC’s office at 6100 Southport Road in Portage. The first public meeting of the ad hoc sub-committee took place on July 2.

The findings of the ad hoc sub-committee will then be presented to the NIRPC Commission. The calendar for Commission meetings may be found on NIRPC’s website at www.nirpc.org.

The new Plan reflects NIRPC’s continuing commitment to reach out to and engage residents in the regional planning and decision-making processes relative to NIRPC’s three planning domains of transportation, economic development and the environment.

The Plan has been in development for over a year, with the advice and guidance of stakeholders. The most recent draft Plan was issued in May after extensive public review. Several NIRPC commissioners have volunteered to sit on an ad hoc sub-committee to hear concerns of the group Everybody Counts regarding this Plan.

For more information, please contact NIRPC at 219-763-6060. TTY users may call 711.
