NIRPC open houses for regional transportation plans

The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) will host a series of public open houses in August and September on the regional transportation planning process.

The events will feature presentations on the 2040 Comprehensive Regional Plan and a pending amendment, the FY 2014-2017 Transportation Improvement Program, which implements the plan by programming federal highway and transit funds, and the Air Quality Conformity Determination, which analyzes the impact of the TIP on the regionís air quality.

The open houses will be held as follows:

Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1-4 p.m. at the Gary Public Library, Kennedy Branch, 3953 Broadway.

Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1-4 p.m. at the East Chicago Public Library, Pastrick Branch, 1008 W. Chicago Avenue.

Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1-3 p.m. at Valparaiso City Hall, 166 Lincolnway.
