Back To Front Page

INDOT’s proposal to add travel lanes to I-65 between Ind. 2 and Ind. 10 has been opened to a 30-day public comment period, the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission announced.

That period begins today and ends on April 15.

Previously approved: the addition of travel lanes to I-65 between Ind. 2 and U.S. Highway 30. The proposed project area between Ind. 2 and Ind. 10 is the subject of three separate documents: Amendment No. 2 to NIRPC’s 2040 Comprehensive Regional Plan Companion Update; Amendment No. 18 to the 2016-19 Transportation Improvement Plan; and new Air Quality Conformity Analysis.

As part of the public comment period, a public meeting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at the Lowell Public Library, 1505 E Commercial Ave. in Lowell.

Comments can also be submitted until April 15 as follows:

* By e-mail: comments@nirpc.org

* By phone: (219) 763-6060, ext. 160.

* By snail mail: NIRPC, 6100 Southport Road, Portage, IN 46368

All comments received during the 30-day public comment period will be compiled into a public comment report and responded to. This report will be made available to the public and distributed to the relevant NIRPC committees prior to any action on these items.

Information on this project is available at www.nirpc.org.
