U.S. 231 Closure

U.S. 231 between Hebron (Ind. 2) and Crown Point (I-65), will close at 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, and will remain closed through 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16.

Westbound motorists will be detoured south and west on Ind. 2, north on I-65, and back to U.S. 231.

Eastbound motorists will be detoured south on I-65, east and north on Ind. 2, and back to U.S. 231.

“Chip seal projects prevent potholes,” INDOT said. “The chip-seal process consists of distributing a liquid asphalt emulsion on the roadway and covering the liquid asphalt with crushed stone to provide a new wearing surface. Chip-sealing extends the life of a roadway by protecting it from moisture, ultra-violet degradation, and any other damaging exposures. The fog seal is being applied on top of the chip-seal work. The fog seal is a light application of asphalt material that can lock in loose stone and help with dust problems.”
