Ind. 49 between Ind. 8 and Ind. 10 will be closed, beginning today and through the end of August, while the Ind. 49 bridge over the Kankakee River is painted, the Indiana Department of Transportation said.

Residents and businesses will still have access to their properties on either side of the closure but through traffic will be detoured. Motorists northbound on Ind. 49 will be directed to take Ind. 10 east to U.S. HIghway 421, then north of Ind. 8, then west and back to Ind. 49. Motorists southbound on Ind. 49 will be directed to take Ind. 8 east to to U.S. Highway 421, then south to Ind. 10, then west and back to Ind. 49.
