Duneland History The Central House Hotel: This postcard
shows the Central House Hotel on the southwest corner of Broadway and Second
St. in Chesterton about 1920. The handprinted notation says C.E. Carlson,
Propr. The white building with a steeple behind the hotel is the early
Methodist Episcopal Church which was located next to the Chesterton Grade
School on Indiana Ave. The sign over the hotel door to the right says
Furnished * Rooms * Restaurant. Later the building was Eschenbach’s Hotel
and Restaurant. Both automobiles and a horse and buggy are visible on the
street.
