Meeting Thursday, the Westchester Public Library Board agreed to reconvene
June 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Thomas Library to interview candidates for a board
vacancy.
The candidate chosen will be recommended to the Duneland School Board for
appointment to replace 15-year WPL board member John Corso, who is moving
out of the library district; his current term expires in March. The Library
Board typically makes a recommendation to its appointing authorities when a
vacancy on the seven-member board occurs.
In a related matter, WPL library director Phil Baugher said next month he
will begin the search for possibly two new employees to share the
responsibilities currently held by assistant director Jane Walsh-Brown, who
plans to retire at year’s end. She is also curator of the WPL-operated
Westchester Township History Museum.
Baugher said he hopes to have the staff changes approved by the Library
Board and become effective October 1 so the employee(s) can work with
Walsh-Brown prior to her retirement.
