PROPOSED ZONING
AMENDMENT
Notice is hereby
given that the Plan Commission of the County of Porter, Indiana will hold a
public hearing on the 13th day of July, 2011 at 6:30 p.m., in the Porter
County Administration Center, 155 Indiana Avenue, Suite 205, Valparaiso,
Indiana to consider the petition of Keene Allison, 9564 N. 500 W., Michigan
City, Indiana for a proposed amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance
to rezone a parcel of land from R-1, Single Family Residential to CM,
Moderate Intensity Commercial District to be located on the following
described parcel:
A parcel of land
in the Southwest 1/4 of Section 7, Township 36 North, Range 5 West, in
Porter County, Indiana, described and bounded as beginning at the
intersection of the center line of State Road No. 49 with an East and West
line that is parallel to and 979.5 feet distant South by rectangular
measurement from the North line of said Southwest 1/4 Section; thence
Southwesterly along the center line of said Road 49, 1048.0 feet to the
intersection of said center line of Road 49 with the center line of a stone
road formerly known as the Valparaiso-Chesterton Road; thence Northwesterly
along the center line of said stone road, 1178.5 feet to its intersection
with above mentioned parallel line that is 979.5 feet South of the North
line of 1/4 Section; Thence East along said parallel line, 379.7 feet to the
point of beginning, containing 4.00 acres.
EXCEPTING
THEREFROM THE FOLLOWING: Commencing at a point on the center of stone road,
known as Valparaiso-Chesterton Road, 1023.2 feet Southeasterly from the
Northwest corner of the Southwest 1/4 of Section 7 Township 36 North, Range
5 West of the Second Principal Meridian; thence East parallel with the North
1/4 Section Line, a distance of 379.7 feet to a point in the center of State
Highway No. 49; thence at an angle of 81º and 50’ Southwesterly along the
center of said Highway No. 49, a distance of 124.72 feet to a point; thence
West parallel with the North 1/4 Section line, a distance of 325.96 feet to
a point in the center of the stone road, known as Valparaiso-Chesterton
Road; thence Northwesterly along the center of the said
Valparaiso-Chesterton Road, a distance of 128.6 feet to the place of
beginning, containing 1 acre.
EXCEPTING
THEREFROM THE FOLLOWING: A parcel of land in the Southwest 1/4 of Section 7,
Township 36 North, Range 5 West in Porter County, Indiana, described and
bounded as beginning at a point on the center of stone road, known as Old
Valparaiso-Chesterton Road, 1151.8 feet Southeasterly of the North line of
said Southwest 1/4, said point being also on a line parallel to and 1108.96
feet South by rectangular measurement from the North line of said Southwest
1/4 of said Section; thence East on said parallel line, 325.96 feet, more or
less, to the center of State Highway No. 49; thence Southwesterly along said
center of State Highway
No. 49, a
distance of 125 feet; thence Westerly on a straight line to a point on the
center line of the Old Valparaiso-Chesterton Road, which is 125 feet
Southeasterly from the point of beginning, as measure along the center line
of said road; thence Northwesterly along said center line to the point of
beginning.
EXCEPTING
THEREFROM THE FOLLOWING: A part of the Southwest 1/4 of Section 7, Township
36 North, Range 5 West, Porter County, Indiana, described as follows:
Commencing at the Southwest corner of said 1/4 Section; thence Easterly
533.00 feet along the South line of said 1/4 Section to the existing
centerline of State Road 49; thence Northerly 884.00 feet along said
centerline; thence Westerly 30.00 feet at right angles to said centerline to
the point of beginning of this description, which point of beginning is the
intersection of the existing West boundary of said State Road 49 and the
existing Northeastern boundary of the Valparaiso-Chesterton Road; thence
Northwesterly, 192.92 feet along said Northeastern boundary; thence South
84º35’00” East, 69.92 feet to the existing West boundary of said State Road
49; thence Southerly 179.75 feet along said West boundary to the point of
beginning and containing 0.142 acres, more or less.

THEREFROM THE FOLLOWING: A parcel of land in the Southwest 1/4 of Section 7,
Township 36 North, Range 5 West of the Second Principal Meridian in Porter
County, Indiana, bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a point on
the centerline of Old Valparaiso-Chesterton Road, 1280.69 feet Southeasterly
of the North line of said Southwest 1/4, said point being also on a line
parallel with and 1226.50 feet South by rectangular measurements from the
North line of said Southwest 1/4 of said Section; thence North 84º59’03”
East along said parallel line, 256.82 feet, more or less to the Westerly
right-of-way line of the Frontage Road for State Road No. 49; thence South
00º11’19” West along said Westerly line, 122.36 feet; thence North 88º08’45”
West, 218.39 feet more or less, to said centerline of the
Valparaiso-Chesterton Road; thence North 21º48’39” West along said
centerline, 100.0 feet to the point of beginning. Containing 25649 square
feet or 0.589 acres, more or less.
GENERAL LOCATION:
A parcel of land located at 1022 N. Old SR 49, in Liberty Township, Porter
County, Indiana.

suggestions to said proposed zoning amendment may be filed with the
Executive Director of the Porter County Plan Commission before such public
hearing and/or verbal statements relating thereto may be heard at the above
designated time and place. A copy of the file is available for public view
