NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Sealed bids will be received by the Portage Township Schools, 6240 U.S. Highway 6, Portage, Indiana, 46368 until 2:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 and then will be publicly opened and read aloud regarding the East Side Improvements project listed below. Any bids received later than the above time will be returned unopened.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This work shall include, but is not limited to, the construction of concrete curbs, bituminous roadway and landscaping in the City of Portage, Porter County, Indiana.

COMPLETION DATE: This work shall be completed by Friday, September 2, 2011.

BID DOCUMENTS: Plans, Specifications and Plan Documents are available for examination in the office of the Portage Township Schools Administration Center. Copies of the Plans, Specifications and Plan Documents may be obtained at the office of the Portage Township Administration Building upon payment of $50.00 per set payable to the Portage Township Schools (non-refundable). A set consists of a set of plans and a set of specifications and bidding documents. Bids shall be properly and completely executed on bid forms contained in the Contract Documents.

No bidder may withdraw his proposal for a period of 30 days following the date set for receiving bids. Portage Township Schools reserves the right to retain any and all bids for a period of not more than 30 days, and said bids shall remain in full force and effect during said time. Portage Township Schools further reserves the right to waive informalities and to award the contract to any Bidder all to the advantage of the Portage Township Schools or to reject all bids.

BID SECURITY: Each bid shall be accompanied by an acceptable certified check or cashier’s check made payable to Portage Township Schools or an acceptable Bid Bond in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total bid price executed by an incorporated surety company in good standing and qualified to do business in the State of Indiana.

BONDS: A performance bond and payment bond each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price will be required.

INDIANA REQUIREMENT: Standard Indiana Form 96 (Revised 2009) which includes non collusion affidavit will be required.

Contractors and Sub-Contractors are required to pay not less that the construction wage as determined by the Indiana Department of Labor Division of Employment standards for work done on the project.

Each bidder must ensure that all employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, creed, color, sex or national origin and each bidder must conform with the anti-discrimination provisions of IC 5-16-6. An Affirmative Action Statement must be submitted at time of bid.
