Legal Notice
Notice is hereby
given that the Town of Porter, IN 46304, proposes to commence a construction
activity that is regulated under Title 327 IAC 15-5 (Rule 5) by IDEM. The
activity consists of earthmoving, grading, utility relocation, installation
of bridges and construction of an asphalt/concrete shared-use path and its
associated amenities.
The route of the
proposed Porter Brickyard Trail is within the Indiana Dunes National
Lakeshore and the Town of Porter, Indiana. The North Terminus of the
Proposed trail starts at the Calumet Trail on Mineral Springs Road. It
proceeds South and crosses over U.S. Highway 12 via a pre-fabricated bridge
& approach structure. The trail them meanders through the National
Lakeshore. Once the trail reaches West Oak Hill Road, it continues along an
existing trail to Howe Road where it proceeds South to U.S. Highway 20. The
trail crosses U.S. Highway 20 via a pre-fabricated bridge & approach
structure. The trail then continues down Howe Road to Mineral Springs Road
heading South to Beam Street and turns East under I-94 to Sexton Avenue. At
Sexton Avenue, a section of trail continues East to Wagner Road, while
another section of the trail turns South and continues until it reaches
Lincoln Avenue. The trail then heads East along Lincoln Avenue and
terminates at Wagner Road in Porter, IN.
The Town of
Porter intends to comply with all of the requirements of the aforementioned
Rule 5 so as to minimize erosion of the site during the construction
process. Questions or comments regarding this project should be directed to
Mr. Matt Keiser, of the Town of Porter. The erosion/sediment control plan
for the shared-use path has been submitted to, and is subject to the
approval of the Town of Porter.
The construction
is expected to begin June 7, 2010. Duration of the project is approximately
five years.
