NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

AN AMENDMENT TO THE UNIFIED

DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE

Notice is hereby given that the Plan Commis-

sion of the County of Porter, Indiana will hold a

public hearing on Monday the 21st day of No-

vember, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Porter County

Administrative Center, 155 Indiana Ave., Suite

205, Valparaiso, Indiana for an amendment to

Ordinance No. 07-05, Porter County Unified

Development Ordinance, Chapter 4: Planned

Unit Development (PUD).

Said ordinance shall amend Chapter 4, Planned

Unit Development Districts in its entirety. Chap-

ter 4, Planned Unit Development Districts ap-

plies to the unincorporated area of Porter

County. It is recognized that traditional zoning,

with its segregation of uses and rigid dimen-

sional requirements may not be suitable in all

situations to best achieve the objectives of the

County relative to desired land use and preser-

vation of its resources and character. In order to

permit and encourage the more creative and in-

novative land development for the benefit of the

County as a whole and in furtherance of the vi-

sion and goals of the County Land Use Plan,

Planned Unit Development may be permitted as

a zoning district. Said ordinance sets out the

approval process and requirements for the

creation of a PUD zoning district.

A copy of the proposed amendment to the Uni-

fied Development Ordinance is available for

public inspection at the Porter County Plan

Commission’s office. Written suggestion to said

proposed amendment to the Unified Develop-

ment Ordinance may be filed with the Executive

Director of the Porter County Plan Commission

before such public hearing and/or verbal state-

ments relating thereto will be heard at the

above designated time and place.
