United Steelworkers Local 6787 in Burns Harbor announced its endorsements of Democrats Deb Porter for District 4 State Representative and Chuck Moseley for District 10 State Representative in a press release on Wednesday.

According to the Steelworkers, Porter is a lifelong educator, has served as president of the Portage Association of Teachers, and is passionate about attracting new business to Northwest Indiana while protecting the good jobs that are already here.

Porter is committed to improving the quality of life for Hoosiers and has the skills to accomplish those goals, the release said.

In Duneland, District 4 includes Liberty Twp. and portions of Westchester Twp.

The release said that Moseley has been a strong voice for working families since taking office in 2008.

As ranking minority member of the State’s Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee, Moseley has worked tirelessly to ensure a better way of life for Northwest Indiana residents, the Steelworkers said.

In Duneland, District 10 includes Burns Harbor, Porter and portions of Chesterton.

The Steelworkers said they believe both candidates will benefit their nearly 10,000 active and retired members, as well as all the voters of District 10.
