INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Former Indiana Republican Chairman Jim Kittle says his involvement in the state's gay marriage battle has been misstated.

Kittle said Tuesday that he never offered "unlimited" campaign funds to Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma.

The Associated Press reported Sunday that Kittle offered support to protect House Republicans who voted against the marriage ban.

The National Organization for Marriage sent a letter to Attorney General Greg Zoeller on Tuesday asking for an investigation of the discussions between Kittle and Bosma.

Bosma said in January that he had rejected an offer of "unlimited" funds to make the ban "go away." He said then he was concerned it might violate state and federal law. But last week he said that he didn't think any crime was committed.
