INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ó Indiana lawmakers plan to tackle several tasks related to the federal health care overhaul over the summer and early fall.

The Legislative Council this week issued assignments for interim study committees made up of lawmakers from both parties and both chambers of the General Assembly. The Medicaid Oversight Commission will look at Medicaid changes being prepared by the Family and Social Services Administration to prepare the state for the federal changes that largely take effect in 2014. A law passed by the General Assembly this year requires FSSA to seek federal approval of the state Medicaid changes next Jan. 1.

The Health Finance Commission will consider legislation necessary to establish exchanges that individuals and businesses might use to obtain health care insurance.

The commissionsí meeting schedules arenít set yet.
