INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana residents who missed a deadline for adding their
cell phone numbers to the state’s do-not-call registry blocking
telemarketing calls have extra time to sign up.
WRTV-TV reports that the deadline which had been Tuesday night has been
extended until 11:59 p.m. Friday. People who sign up by that time should
have calls from unwanted solicitors stopped on July 1.
Gov. Mitch Daniels signed a bill last week that extended the state’s
do-not-call law that had applied only to land lines to cell phones.
Telemarketers who contact registered cell phone users will face the same
penalties as those who call a registered land line.
People can sign up online at
www.in.gov/attorneygeneral/2446.htm
or by calling 888-834-9969.
