FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — The death of a Fort Wayne man who was shot while riding his bicycle more than 30 years ago has been ruled a homicide.

The Allen County coroner's office said Wednesday that 53-year-old David Allan Thornsley had died at St. Joseph Hospital in the northeast Indiana city.

The Journal Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/WnSIFi ) Thornsley was 20 years old when he was shot while riding his bicycle in Fort Wayne about 2 a.m. on July 10, 1980. Since then he had been a paraplegic. He died from complications due to the gunshot wounds.

Thornsley was shot twice in the back with a .22 caliber rifle.
