INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Rupert Boneham says Indiana should approve a hybrid health exchange for Hoosiers to buy insurance.

Boneham wrote in a letter to Gov. Mitch Daniels Friday that an insurance exchange should allow state control while sharing costs with the federal government.

Daniels has until Nov. 16 to tell federal officials what Indiana will do. He asked the three candidates for governor last month to advise him on whether to create a state-run plan or enter into the federal plan.

Republican Mike Pence said Wednesday the state should not create its own exchange and argued again for repealing the federal health care act.

Democrat John Gregg has yet to say whether he would approve a state exchange. He said Thursday he plans to meet with Daniels soon.
