PLAINFIELD, Ind. (AP) — At least 12 people have been hurt
after more than 30 vehicles smashed together in a snowy pileup on
Interstate 70 west of Indianapolis.
Indiana
State Police Capt. Dave Bursten says two people were seriously injured,
but he doesn't know how badly.
Bursten says
about 20 semitrailers and about 15 passenger vehicles were involved in
the crash. The crash has closed I-70 in both directions.
Police
believe weather played a role in the crash. The National Weather Service
says it was snowing at the time, with slick pavement and poor
visibility.
A photo
posted at www.wishtv.com showed at least five rigs angled side-by side,
each one completely blocking all lanes in one direction.
