Anglers from Indiana are invited to a Lake Michigan yellow perch summit from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Road.

Participants can attend in person or via webinar.

The goal of the summit is to provide a forum where Lake Michigan anglers and fishery managers can exchange information.

Fishery managers from the Indiana DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan as well as tribal jurisdictions, will present the public with the latest information on yellow perch in Lake Michigan and efforts to improve and manage perch fishing. Anglers and anyone else with an interest in Lake Michigan can comment on the information and offer input.

Discussion topics include the lake's changing ecology and its effect on perch populations and fishing, and information on regulations.

The summit is being hosted by the Lake Michigan Committee of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, whose charge is to coordinate fisheries management among state, provincial, tribal, and federal management agencies in the U.S. and Canada.

The event is free for anyone who registers before Saturday, March 15. Late registration will be available for $20 the day of the summit.

Whether attending in person or through the webinar, participants should register on line at glfc.org/lakecom/yp or by phone at (847) 294-4134. Webinar registrants will receive URL information via email at a later date.
