Phillips beats Burge in Porter Town Council race

In the only contested race in the Town of Porter’s municipal election on Tuesday, Democrat David Phillips easily beat Republican Jim Burge for the open 4th District seat on the Town Council.

Phillips took 326 votes (54 percent) to Burge’s 276 votes (46 percent).

The 4th District incumbent, Democrat Ross LeBleu, opted not to run for re-election.

Vote totals for the incumbents in uncontested races: Clerk-Treasurer and Republican Carol Pomeroy, 455 votes; Town Council Member Erik Wagner, D-1st, 467; Council Member Greg Stinson, D-2nd, 481; Council Member William “Bill” Lopez, 461; and Council Member Brian Finley, R-5th, 441.
